Anthology Covers Awarded "Distinguished Merit"
3x3 Magazine, an international publication "devoted entirely to the art of contemporary illustration" has recognized Quail Bell Magazine's art director, Kristen Rebelo, for "distinguished merit" in the 2014 3x3 International Picture Book Show. Kristen received the work for her cover art illustrations for Quail Bell's companion books, The Nest: An Anthology of The Unreal and Airborne: An Anthology of The Real. The books were published and released earlier this year by Belle Isle Books, an imprint of Brandylane Publishers, and have been tabled at such events at the Brooklyn 'Zine Festival and the Virginia Festival of the Book. This year's 3x3 Picture Book judges included: Élisabeth Cohat, Art Director, Gallimard jeunesse, France; Sylvie Frank, Associate Editor at Paula Wiseman Books; Jim Hoover, Associate Art Director at Viking Children’s Books and award-winning illustrators Anna + Elena Balbusso, Italy and Robert Neubecker, United States. Congratulations, Kristen! More info here.
