This Weekend's Independent Publishing FestivitiesDear fledglings,
Wow, we really are getting all fancy, huh? This weekend we're making our debut at the Brooklyn 'Zine Festival, which basically makes us feel like super-stars. Not just anybody gets to table there. PLUS, we're Table #1. As in, the first table you see after walking past the registration table. That makes us some kind of landmark. Brooklyn is arguably the arts capital of the world these days and we're hoping that will make us feel right at home. If not, then Kristen's nana will. We'll be crashing at her place. Chances are that means we'll get spoiled. Grandmas are good at that. Anyway, what will we be tabling this weekend? Quail Bell 'Zine/Issue 3, Quail Bell Look Book, our new T-shirt, "The Persistence of Poe" posters, and more! Come take a look. And don't forget your wallet ;) See you this Sunday! Feathery hugs, Christine Stoddard & Kristen Rebelo The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
That Other WebsiteOur Executive Editor Christine Stoddard writes. A lot. She writes fiction and poetry, creative non-fiction, hard journalism, and other stuff. So it should come as no surprise that she freelances as a word nerd. While QuailBellMagazine.com has been down for the past couple of months during its re-design, Christine kept typing and not just for herself. One of her victims--er, clients--was (and remains) Richmond.com. Richmond.com is Richmond, Virginia's source for local entertainment. Want to learn more about a new restaurant? Want to see what concerts are going on? Want advice on where to shop for [insert whatever here]? These are the kinds of questions Richmond.com seeks to answer. Once a week, Richmond.com also prints and distributes a hard copy of its calendar with 2-3 stories from the website and coupons valid in Central Virginia. So if you live in RVA or plan to visit this charming and eclectic Southern city* soon, you know where to go. Check out Richmond.com first. And also see what Christine's written for them! *RVA is Quail Bell Magazine's birthplace and officially one of its favorite cities.
