Last year Brooklyn, this year ManhattanDear Fledglings, I'm elated to say that Quail Bell Magazine was featured in Time Out New York's April 25th story, "30 zines to pick up at the Brooklyn Zine Fest." It took the Quail Bell Crew a few days to notice, but we found the piece today. Last year, art director Kristen Rebelo and I were briefly interviewed for the Brooklyn Community Access Channel and also saw our magazine positively mentioned in a piece by Vol. 1 Brooklyn. Plus, of course, there were a few bloggers who ranted and raved about us. But this year, we moved up a borough. (Joking, joking, but I do come from a LES family, after all.) We are proud and certainly grateful. Though we Quail Bell(e)s will continue creating imaginary/nostalgic/otherworldly content no matter what, a little validation is always nice. To have it come from a major arts publication floors us. But we'll never forget that all of this effort is really for you—our loyal readers. As always, thank you for reading. Quail Bell(e)s at the Brooklyn Historical SocietyFrom left: Christine Skelly, Sarah Sullivan, Christine Stoddard, Kristen Rebelo Zines! Books! Comics! The Brooklyn Zine Fest introduced us to a whole world of new artists and writers from up and down the East Coast. That being said, we also had the pleasure of seeing some familiar faces. Overall, it was a pleasure showing off our zines, books, prints, and more, plus learning about what other zinesters are doing. We're happy we had a chance to table for the second year in a row and can't wait until next year. Check out more pictures from the fest here. #BZF #Brooklyn #Zines #SelfPublishing #DIY #Arts
