Josephine Stone described as promising young journalist by The RTDOur very own Josephine Stone, who tragically passed away this weekend, was recently described as a young lady who "showed great promise as an aspiring journalist" in an article by The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
At age 23, Josie became the Managing Editor of Quail Bell Magazine. We knew her to be an enthusiastic storyteller, copyeditor, and curator of short fiction. Despite working another full-time job, Josie constantly pitched new story ideas and contributed many yarns of her own. She came up with the idea for our "Dead Stuff" feature and helped develop our advice column, "Sir Gearhart the Gentleman," to cite just two examples. Prior to joining The QB Crew, Josie had also worked for Virginia's Capital News Service, reported for The Society of Professional Journalists, and studied journalism for a summer semester in England. She graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in May 2011. Josie earned degrees in Print Journalism and English. We miss you, Josie, and know that the world will be a dimmer place without your shining talent as a writer & editor--that's not to mention your friendship, either.
