Summer Stories and Other Desires As a managing editor, I see every submission that comes into Quail Bell...and that is a LOT of submissions. We have Fledglings from all over the world sending their awesome matieral and it breaks my heart to have to turn any of them down. But the whole crew has been wanting to get back to our roots lately, which means we want a sharper focus on the themes we're craving to see. With that said, I wanted to personally share exactly what Quail Bell has been searching for to make it easier on you to share your wonderful words with us. I was browsing through online zines to submit work when I ran across Quail Bell. I loved the mission statement and I jumped at the chance to be a contributor. It’s a great organization, which has been open to publishing even some of my grittier work which isn’t always easy. Chief editor Christine Stoddard and managing editor Gretchen Gales have been great to work with, and I will always appreciate them for giving me a chance that others would not. Announcing Yo Soy Mujer — A Solo Art Show by Christine Stoddard Art Works presents Salvadoran-Scottish-American visual artist Christine Stoddard’s first Richmond, Virginia solo art show, Yo Soy Mujer. The show opens with a public reception in the art center’s Skylight Gallery on September 22 at 7 p.m. and runs through October 22. |
