We put our interns to work.
Here's one of the several photos one of our summer interns, Brendan, took to promote Quail Bell Express: Issue 1, which is now available for free in Richmond, Virginia. Our interns don't fritter away their school break making coffee and copies. Want to apply for a summer position? We're accepting applications through June 4th. Contact us!
The QB Crew is thrilled to introduce Rachel Jones, our Acting Art Director for Quail Bell Express: Issue 2, our print 'zine. Rachel graduated from VCUarts with a B.F.A. in Sculpture + Extended Media just a couple of weeks ago. She has been contributing to QB since September 2011 and hopes to continue doing so even after she moves from QB headquarters in Richmond, Virginia to Hermosa, California later this summer.
Thanks for taking on this project, Rachel! We're happy to have you.
How we spent our Sunday evening
We're really happy we had the chance to read our work and display our wares at Chop Suey in Richmond, Virginia's Carytown today. Hooray for Imagimania! Catch QB Executive Editor Christine Stoddard and Associate Editor Julie DiNisio in Pittsburgh next weekend. Details to come.
Contributor Helen Georgia Stoddard with Executive Editor Christine Stoddard.
Well, well, well...finals are finally over and commencement has long since commenced--in fact, it's over. QB founder & Executive Editor Christine Stoddard has graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts AND College of Humanities & Sciences. Phew! We thought she might stay there forever!
After transferring from Grinnell College after her first year and spending four years at VCU, Christine earned three degrees: two Bachelor's in Film and English/Creative Writing, plus a certificate in Product Innovation from the VCU da Vinci Center. She also earned minors in Spanish, French, and European Studies. And, gosh darn it, Christine was just four credits short of earning her certificate in Spanish/English Translation & Interpretation, too. But, hey, she has up to two years to return to VCU and finish the certificate if she so desires.
Right now, it's time to take a break from school and really give QB her all. Thanks to the rest of The QB Crew and her loving friends & family, Christine's going to do exactly that. Every fledgling around's pretty confident that Quail Bell Magazine's going to become more than just the average college blog project. We hope that includes you, too!
A poignant birthday
Happy birthday! You would've been 24 years old today, had you not tragically died 6 months ago. Talented, spirited, and quirky, you embodied the true Quail Bell(e) philosophy of being. We miss you as our Managing Editor, contributing writer, and--above all--friend.
Quem di diligunt, adolescens moritur.
Feathery hugs forever,
The QB Crew
