5 Witchy Uses For Dried Rose Petals
By Ghia Vitale
Rose is a highly versatile flower and magickal herb. That’s why there are more ways to use dried rose petals in magick and witchcraft than you think.
Many people like roses in general, but a lot of witches (myself included) tend to be especially fond of roses. After all, roses are beautiful, smell good, and embody a natural elegance of their own. For this reason, witches use rose petals in love spells and workings that relate to relationships. However, rose petals also contain potent magickal energies that don’t specifically relate to love magick or romance charms. In fact, there are plenty of other spiritual uses for rose petals. It’s ideal to use fresh roses for occult purposes, but not everybody has access to a garden or place where roses grow. Fortunately, you can buy dried rose petals off of the internet at a reasonable price. Personally, I’m fond of using the Rose Buds and Petals (Red) by Alive Herbals for spiritual rituals and spellwork. These rose petals are organic and 100% caffeine-free as well. Plus, even if you didn’t harvest these rose petals with your own hands, they still have that amazing rose energy that boosts manifestations and adds dreamy energy to your spellwork. Here are 5 ways you can use dried rose petals for witchcraft: 1. Cleansing I learned from Ashera Star Goddess that roses have the highest vibrational frequency out of all the plants. Then it made sense why I vibe with roses so much. Rose’s high frequency makes it an ideal herb for cleansing. I know white sage is all the rage, but many people have qualms about using white sage. There are valid ethical concerns regarding the widespread use of white sage such as environmental impact and the appropriation of Native American cultures. Burning rose petals in a cauldron is a good substitute for burning a white sage smudge stick. Plus, I’ve noticed that the roses add their own positive energy to whatever space you’re cleansing. 2. Rose Tea Drinking rose tea is a great way to kick back and get magickal. Tea magick is a real thing and not only is rose tea relaxing, but it tastes wonderful. Any time you make rose tea is an opportunity to make magic. What I do is set an intention while the roses are seeping into the water. The water absorbs my intention and when I drink it, I absorb that energy within my being. This, in turn, helps me manifest my intention. Rose tea is also helpful for assisting with your psychic development and boosting your confidence. Again, I prefer to use the organic Rose Buds and Petals (Red) by Alive Herbals for tea more than other products. 3. Use Dried Rose Petals As An Offering Rose petals make an excellent offering or sacrifice to any deity, spirit, faery, demon, or other interdimensional entity that you sense will enjoy them. It’s the energy of rose petals that makes them appealing to certain entities. Goddesses such as Aphrodite, Venus, Gaia, Flora, Astarte, Lilith, and more appreciate receiving rose petals. For example, I’ve sprinkled rose petals on the shoreline to honor Aphrodite. Use your intuition to sense whether or not an entity would appreciate a handful of rose petals before using them in a ritual or spell. The last thing you want to do is piss off/offend an entity that’s more powerful than you! 4. Prosperity Magick A lot of witches don’t know this, but dried rose petals go wonderfully with prosperity magick. The high-frequency energy of roses is useful for manifesting money, wealth, and other material desires. Place dried rose petals in a money poppet or sachet to boost its money-drawing powers. You can do the same with any witch bottles created for attracting money. If you’re looking for an easy way to draw money, sprinkle some dried rose petals into your wallet. This is especially helpful if you have a job that requires you to utilize your beauty and charm to make money. 5. Fire Magick Burning dried rose petals add positive energy to fire spells. Also, it produces a lovely scent! Throw a handful of roses into a needfire to add some “umph” to a manifestation. Better yet, if you don’t have a full-blown needfire to work with, write something you want to manifest on a piece of paper, then fold dried rose petals into the paper. Then set that paper on fire and throw it into a cauldron or other fireproof pot. As the smoke from the paper rises, visualize your intention being released into other planes of existence in order to fulfill its manifestation. This is a good method for manifesting good luck and creativity. Roses have so much more to offer other than healing and relationship help. Embrace the power of rose energy by using dried rose petals in your spellwork.
