In seventh grade, my art teacher told me I had a lot of talent. The year after that, I couldn't enroll in any more art classes because I had to take a foreign language. I have not had any "formal" art training since that point, though my ego is still fueled by Ms. Noelde's statement.

Maybe you've done the same thing: you see your friend's list on Facebook or your follower numbers on Instagram, Twitter, or whatever will be the next new thing, and notice it's gone down. Again.
I torture myself by looking at who liked my past Facebook memories. I check for any blue "Add Friend" buttons. Then I ruminate over why someone I had a bond with no longer wanted to be connected to my life. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
Flash Nonfiction: Reflections on a Dream from Saturday, October 19, 2019 by T. L. Sullivan7/24/2021 By T. L. Sullivan I was being followed by a line of clods/piles of dirt coming out of a mousehole. I thought I saw a black snake starting to come out of the hole, then I woke up.

Jeff Seal promoting rent control in New York City
When actor and comedian Jeff Seal said he evicted tenants for fun at a Manhattan landlords' convention in 2018, he got mention on the convention’s company website. When asked about his undercover acting, the actor and filmmaker told Quail Bell Magazine, “No one said, ‘Oh, geez, that's unethical.' Instead it was, ‘Oh great. We'd love to do business with you.’” In collaboration with co-producers Nick and Chris Libbey, filmmaker and New Yorker Jeff Seal released his latest three-episode mini docuseries, New York's Worst Landlords, on YouTube April 8th. The film catalogs comedian Jeff Seal’s attempts to interview landlords on New York City Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams’ annual Worst Landlord Watchlist, which organizes the top repeat landlord offenders. Seal attempts to contact landlords by phone, impromptu interview, email, and eventually undercover acting. The result is a (free to watch!) chronicle of one man's efforts to get answers from New York City landlords getting away with neglectful and exploitative strategies for hundreds of properties. |
