Kitten Powers ActivateBy Ghia Vitale It’s Super Bowl Sunday in 2020 and you know what that means: It’s time to watch the Kitten Bowl VII on the Hallmark channel! Here are 5 reasons why you should tune in today. The Super Bowl isn’t happening until 6:30 pm EST on February 2, 2020 (today). Fortunately, the Kitten Bowl airs the same day at 2 pm EST on the Hallmark Channel! People can also watch it via stream. That means watching it won’t interfere with your ability to watch the Super Bowl. (Personally, I’d rather watch cute kitties interact with each other than watch football.) Compared to the Puppy Bowl, the Kitten Bowl doesn’t get the hype it deserves. This article is here to change that! Here are 5 reasons why you should watch the 6th annual Kitten Bowl in 2020: 1. Cathletes On HallmarkChannel.com's official Kitten Bowl section, Hallmark describes the Kitten Bowl as “the nation’s most beloved rescue pet adoption event of the year.” The Kitten Bowl features adorable kittens called “cathletes.” All of the cathletes “compete” with each other while humans contribute humorous narrations throughout the game. The goal of the Kitten Bowl is to find adoptive families for all of the kittens on the air. 2. Support Animal Rescue There are 2 teams of cathletes competing against each other. Each team of cats represents a different animal shelter. This year, the teams versing each other are the Little LongBy watching the Kitten Bowl, you’re supporting the animal rescue efforts of the organizations involved with the programming. In fact, this program is associated with The North Shore Animal League (the largest no-kill shelter in the United States) and Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. 3. Priceless Cathlete Names The cathletes have adorable names, but that’s not all that makes the Kitten Bowl great. It’s the fact that the cathletes’ names often mimic the names of popular athletes. For instance, one of the cathletes in Kitten Bowl VII is named Alvin Catmara, a play on the name of Alvin Kamara from the New Orleans Saints. 4. Puns, Puns, Puns! If there’s one thing cat lovers appreciate, it’s a good cat pun. Good thing the Kitten Bowl is chock full of cat puns! The narrators seem to work cat puns into their commentary as often as possible. This helps viewers get into the spirit of the game. 5. Beth Stern Last but not least, you should check out this Kitten Bowl because Beth Stern is the host. Beth Stern is a TV personality, model, and author who’s also an animal activist. She feels passionate about promoting adoption and animal rescue. She even makes the world a better place by taking care of foster kittens. Beth Stern is a friend to catkind, so she makes a great host for this event.
Ultimately, the Kitten Bowl is an amazing event for cat lovers across the nation. I encourage you to support the kitties by tuning into the Kitten Bowl 2020 today. Not only will it give you a daily dose of cuteness beyond comparison, but you'll be giving kitties the support they deserve.
