We’ve got a lot of really incredible events coming up in the next few weeks, Fledgelings! But perhaps most excitingly of all, we are very much pleased to announce that our founder Ms. Christine Stoddard is soon to be launching her latest book, Belladonna Magic: Spells In The Form of Poetry and Photography, published by Shanti Arts LLC.

This much-anticipated ode to the witch and the storm and the ineffable goddess inside each and every one of us takes the concept of a spellbook and turns it on its head, alternating between beautiful and surrealist photography alike, scattered between poems which examine, celebrate, and at times lament all that it means to be a woman. Stoddard’s tender language delves readers - if only for a moment - into a world where shame need have no meaning, and where it is all too easy to remember that stardust runs through our veins, that our lives were forged among the cosmos. ​​

The book is due to be launched on Thursday, July 18th, 2019, at Chop Suey Books in Richmond, Virginia. Chop Suey Books has a longstanding reputation as a favorite among Richmond locals, and they have graciously agreed to host the launch from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at their location at 2913 W Cary St, Richmond. The event will be free and open to the public, and will feature a book signing by Ms. Stoddard, a reading of several passages from the book, and an additional few words from Ms. Gretchen Gales, our executive editor here at Quail Bell Magazine, and contributor to Belladonna Magic.
