Spring Equinox 2019 (Coming Soon)By Raymond Greiner Seasonal change is welcome after winter’s challenge. In comes spring's beauty with glory beyond descriptive words. Spring’s spectacle is a transformation as green dominates mixed with blankets of wildflowers in contrast. Migratory birds return and join in fellowship with cold weather counterparts. During winter my bird feeder was like New York's Grand Central Station. Cardinals, bluejays, juncos, chickadees, tufted-titmouse, bluejays, woodpeckers, and an occasional rose breasted grosbeak. Observing winter avifauna is a spiritual event as it casts relief from frigid temperatures. Humans huddle by wood-stoves as tiny feathered critters endure the cold. The hominid is fragile.
Feeding the boarded horse Dusty each morning I'm marveled as this aging equine patiently awaits his grain. My Great Pyrenees “Snowflake” sleeps outside her dog house and at -10 degrees plays with a stick. Her breed is among the most resilient to the cold. Animals adapt to their environment humans battle with it. So, why does this matter? I’m unsure, but my age group benefits from detachment from workplace environments and allows opportunity to direct thoughts and activities on the perimeter of urban tumult.

Thanks for hope that spring is coming soon. I heard a redwing black bird as I read this.
