Surf Rock
Upon hearing the jangling guitars
suddenly images, like a montage of Polaroids flitted before his eyes:
the corn-fed smiles
encircled by ringlets of blonde hair locked by salty sea water, the tubular swells washed out by a sun kissed sky, longboards slicing through the break ridden by wetsuit adorned stoners displaying their trademark nonchalance; and if only fleetingly he wasn’t in a grey cityscape but back surfing. Despite having spent a few hours of his twenty some odd years on Earth atop a surf board, he fancied himself a surfer, at least in the company of his “landlocked” friends. Alex Wenderoff, and I have had two works published with Quail Bell: The Stripper and Terra Firma. He is an elementary school teacher living in Astoria, Queens, New York who enjoys writing about his experiences outside of the classroom. #Real #AlexWenderoff #Poetry #SurfRock #SurfinUSA #HolidayInTheSun #HolidayOnTheSea Visit our shop and subscribe.
