On Mood Rings and Wedding Rings
through the peephole, your face
as distorted as my mind, gray
in tight yoga pants and tank
throwing up all the stuff
my apartment trashed empty
as distorted as my mind, gray
in tight yoga pants and tank
throwing up all the stuff
my apartment trashed empty
one quick brush of hair, touch
of blush, blue rush a hush
and you won’t stop knocking
closed door the only thing blocking us
dark red spark electric shock, we open
arms for long embrace, I let you
cross over threshold indigo
your wedding ring missing
pink I ask if you left and you say
it was bent out of shape lifting weights
your thoughts on me—wasn’t
it ironic, a rock in my stomach the need
to release I tell you to leave amber
of blush, blue rush a hush
and you won’t stop knocking
closed door the only thing blocking us
dark red spark electric shock, we open
arms for long embrace, I let you
cross over threshold indigo
your wedding ring missing
pink I ask if you left and you say
it was bent out of shape lifting weights
your thoughts on me—wasn’t
it ironic, a rock in my stomach the need
to release I tell you to leave amber
