Odysseus: Strength and Hope
By Steven Joseph McCrystal

Tie yourself to the mast as the Siren sings.
Overhear her whispers. Overhear her screams. A maddening intensity bereft of any sympathies. A sweet voice to entice the spirit with compelling charms. Echoes from within the mind travel through these songs: the sea of doubt, the end of the world; until the end. Colour entwined in a colourless mind within a sea of doubts. Waves crashing upon a broken woe hope tumbles; hope falls. Into eddies, currents, whirlpools and more. But the mast doesn’t break. It bends. It twists. It sways to the bitter sweet siren’s song. Enticing one more look into darkness before she’s gone. A light! A thought. A vanishing point upon unknown horizons. Beyond the hissing of doubt; the hissing songs. Beyond the twisted sense of fear. Beyond the unknown destination. Beyond the unknown horizon it can be found . . . By navigating Hope: through rocks; through woeful songs, through rough green seas. Through life it seems.
