that ages bones,
eats away at precious linings.
Cheap headline sprinkles-
bitter, red and black:
Bloody photographs flop
into bellies and begin to thaw.
Joined by media feeds
fermenting into a cranberry soup.
Apple pie hashtags #,
sugar honey glaze:
hashtag pray for Paris
hashtag not afraid.
It’s breaking news:
the ripest fruit set on display.
Flashing fonts squawk their shelf life,
and promise a sickening aftertaste.
There’s still hope for humanity.
Put down spoons when it's time to eat,
we must use our own two hands
for the Neapolitan taste of peace.
