Choices Matter Something Significant 9:10 AM and here I am At a desk of wood in a class of stone The board is black and walls are white Dark red purple vomit colored carpet Designed to hide unwanted stains Yellow wire still hanging Dangling near fluorescent lights Humming under the drumming ventilation Then there’s me Something not significant Pockets full of paper unreadable Sent through a machine spinning violently Warm my hands when nothing else will Sunglasses made of cheap plastic By machines or people treated as such Protect my eyes when nothing else will Boots tied tighter than tightropes Made from less deserving animals Maintains the dryness of my feet when oceans try Bulletproof vest with Kevlar reinforcement And a lifetime guarantee Can’t protect anything but force These walls of padding and pillows All the comfort I really have now Doesn’t bruise anything worthwhile A combination of the two She sits on a mountain, Wanting daisies, But picking rocks From sandy shores Out of her shoes The pebbles, Illuminating everything She ever wanted, Fall from the ringed finger, And into her memory of a happier time, When she wasn’t forced To climb mountains In her lonesome state #Unreal #Poetry #JonTurcotte #Photography #TylerRosado #Illusions #Solitude Visit our shop and subscribe.
