Rituals For Welcoming Spring
It’s April and it feels like Spring is finally coming around. Thank the universe. If you’re a New Yorker like me – you’ve been sick and tired of cold winds blasting you in the face and overall chilly temps to rain on your parade. How rude.

Winter certainly gives me things I love such as sparkling snow, boots, hot chocolate and all of that nonsense. I’m ready for a change. Good weather is all I can talk about. With my sister, my fiance, my friends. It’s finally not shitty out, you guys! So, I thought, why not kick off Spring with some new rituals to feel amazing, inspired, and generally present in day-to-day life? Let’s get ready to be amazing. 1. Burn some sage. Clear out all of the lame energy you’ve been housing. 2. Remove any toxins from your life. Start small. What is something in your life that is a drag? Too much clutter? Spring clean your closet. Tired all the time? Try to go to bed one hour earlier. Feeling negative all the time? Keep a small gratitude journal to remind you of the positive. 3. Take a meditation class. This is a big goal of mine. I want to feel present in every day life and taking a few minutes each day to just focus on relaxation and breathing one way to do just that. 4. Enjoy the outdoors. I’ve been complaining about the cold weather since it was cold. I fully intend to make my life fabulous by drinking tea outside, running in the park, rooftop yoga, walking more instead of taking the subway, going to an outdoor concert, and just generally getting in as much vitamin D as stupidly possible. 5. Do something that brings you pleasure. Major duh, because if you’re not having fun, then what is is the point? I like to focus on life’s little pleasures, such as a fresh baked cookie, sending letters to friends, looking at beautiful art, sharing a laugh with loved ones, listening to a marvelous song. Be in the moment. 6. Say thank you. Have you thanked someone in your life lately? I’m going to make like the Golden Girls and thank some pretty dope ladies for being my friend. 7. Set a list of intentions. Life changes and the pursuit of your dreams are easier to accomplish when you have clear objectives. Write a list, keep a journal, make a private video log — whatever it is, articulate it to yourself. 8. Make a list of goals with activities that are easily accomplishable. Why not kick off spring by reading a good book? Getting in touch with an old friend? Learning a new yoga pose? 9. Read your tarot cards. I don’t think tarot cards are the end all and be all when it comes to charting my life path. However, I like the reflection scope it gives me when it comes to thinking about my past and choices that I want to make in the future. Lay the cards on the table to get another side of yourself. 10. Explore a neighborhood you’re not too familiar with. This option parallels #4 nicely. If you’re not sure how to put yourself out there, pick a part of your city or town and just see what’s out there. You might find a neat smoothie joint, an indie bookstore, a new hair salon, or anything else that could be fun.
