Tulpas Gone Wild As I’m sure you’ve all heard, Slender Man is the subject of the public eye’s glares due to the recent killings that he allegedly inspired. For those who aren’t in the know: Slender Man made his existential debut in 2009 on the Something Awful forum. His mythos is a folkloric creation of the users’ combined creative efforts, but his real parentage is traced back to Eric Knudson. He Photoshopped this willowy, tendril-armed, humanoid monster into a picture of children on a playground. From thereon, Knudson spawned a notorious meme whose reputation has since far exceeded his seemingly humble roots. Always dressed for the occasion in a fancy suit, Slender Man enjoys traveling through unseen dimensions to peruse our physical world for humans to terrorize and maim. His victims develop a psychological condition known as “slender sickness” which causes them to exhibit symptoms of psychosis or plain paranoia, as far as any comparatively sane onlookers are concerned. When he’s had his fill of terror, he abducts them, banishing them to his personal Slender-verse that may or may not be located in the woods of Wisconsin. The Slender Man mythos has evolved from a collaborative, so his abilities and tendencies are always subject to change, much like the varied versions of urban myths that evolve from a locale’s folklore. For someone whose face doesn’t show up in photographs, he is sure getting a lot of publicity. He has been amassing a cult following ever since he was born. While most Slender-lovers are simply intrigued by him, two girls in middle school cited their devotion to him as their inspiration to attempt murder. Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser intended to murder their friend as a sacrificial demonstration to express their dedication to Slender Man. If the mission was a success, they would become “proxies” to do his bidding. If everything was to go according to plan, the killers would have refuge in Slender Man’s alleged mansion in the faraway Nicolet National Forest. Weier even brought a picture of her family as a keepsake to preserve her memory of them. Much like human predators of the physical realm, this also totally aligns with Slender Man’s tendency to groom children and gain their trust in order to exploit them in the most efficient way. An anonymous mother also claimed that her daughter attempted to stab her whilst under Slender Man’s “influence.” If I were like the average person, I would chalk it up to a delusional adolescent fantasy gone awry. However, other reports of Slender Man sightings have been steadily surfacing. As an occultist, I strive to understand paranormality. Honestly, I think that Slender Man was literally dreamed to life. Sure, his existence as an entity doesn’t absolve the girls from guilt. But please allow me to explain how Slender Man might possibly be a real entity through the lens of Chaos theory. (Disclaimer: I am not explaining this theory to justify the murderers’ actions or absolve them in any way. I am simply explaining how Slender Man could have become a sentient, independent entity.) Slender Man is basically a tulpa gone wild. A tulpa (which basically translates to “construct” or build”) is a thoughtform that gathers energy through pointed efforts wielded by the creator’s mind. There are a lot of techniques as to how you can create one, depending on who you ask, but everyone seems to agree that the task requires a hefty investment of time, energy, and mental discipline. To a degree, most people agree that a tulpa is a “self-imposed hallucination that interacts with all five senses” that us created by a mind. Others believe that to create a tulpa is to give life to a being that will eventually evolve into an autonomous existence. Chaos magicians create “servitors,” tulpas who are programmed to fulfill specific purposes that benefit the creator's life, kind of like a “life mission” that serves the magician’s will. This isn’t really all that unique to the Chaos “tradition” because the concept has been prevalent in occult traditions all over the world and throughout time. I use_d word “tradition” lightly because Chaos magick purports that “nothing is true, everything is permitted.” Isn't that nice? An entity who just does your bidding? If you're not doing it wrong, then they love doing it. Now, get ready for some trippy stuff. Many, like myself, hold the multiversal belief that everything is real and exists in some reality somewhere in our vast, shared existence, even if not in our immediate reality. In other words, every book we’ve read or cartoon we’ve seen can very well be the artist’s reflections of the glimpses that they’ve received of another world, no matter how seemingly deep or nonsensical that “world” might seem to us. When I first read this theory, I beamed with elated wonder as I contemplated the thought of Pokemon being real, or going to Kirby’s Dreamland and partying at Castle Lololo. When I took a shamanism class, the shaman Bear Walker came in and was answering questions from the class. Someone asked him if he had ever travelled time or if time travel was possible. Honestly, I don’t remember that. What I do remember him doing was asking the questioner where they’d like to go, and she said Hawaii. He then told us that whenever we travel time whenever imagine our future selves on a vacation in Hawaii. Every one of your thoughts might very well be a glimpse into another reality (or multiple realities) that coexist alongside ours. We chaos magicians even create our own gods under the premise of the multiverse, so that’s why creating independent beings to happily serve our will(s) is so appealing. Some Chaos-esque traditions like the Feri Tradition believe that we are all incarnations of personal deities who were sent here to serve their will on Earth, regardless of how strange or pointless that goal might seem to us. When I think of people and the paths they take while linking them to some divine agency, it makes me wonder what the intention of their Godself actually is and what the heck it’s trying to accomplish. If that sounds offensive, then you should know that I especially think this in reference to myself. So far, God Herself seems to have a very strange sense of humor and interesting points to prove on this planet. I'd like to think that I know what they are, but who doesn't? You might have heard about the Law of Attraction and the belief/fact that all thoughts are comprised of energy, ultimately enabling them to manifest in our realities. The more energy that you devote to a particular thought (with emphasis on the feelings those thoughts provoke), the more energy it gathers. All of the techniques used to “empower” tulpas are essentially performed to infuse it with energy in order to give it a life of its own and gain transient independence from the mind/lifeforce that created it. All of the creative efforts involved in his mythos ultimately empowered Slender Man to become a somewhat actualized lifeform. He began amassing energy when he was first created, and hell, he’s reaping energy from this act of writing about him. Now, he’s an egregore, capable of influencing the thoughts of the masses who associate themselves. No wonder he’s been allegedly spotted multiple times. That questionable tidbit of information added to my suspicions, but these killings give me further reason to rest my case, although let’s face it: it’s not a case that can be proven, nor can it (or should it) ever rest in any truthful rationality. Obviously, he was probably able to exercise such influence over the thoughts of these young murderers because they held great stock in his existence. That doesn’t render them innocent because ultimately, they welcomed him in and have to deal with the real consequences of their actions. Or it could just be a bunch of demented nonsense. That's always a good possibility. Personally, I still think that he just wants $20. #Real #NotAllSlenderMen #SlenderMan #TwentyDollars #SlenderSickness #Tulpas #Egregore #Chaos #Paranormal #Memes Visit our shop and subscribe. That's interesting. I'd never heard of Slender Man until I saw YouTube vids on Slender: The Eight Pages gameplay a few weeks ago. I didn't give it much thought at the time since I wasn't aware of how famous "Slender Man" had become. Just now I was reading the wiki page on this season's American Horror Story and saw another reference to Slender Man. That peaked my interest, so I read another wiki page on Slender Man. The moment I saw the picture labeled as The "Slender Man symbol" introduced by Marble Hornets, I immediately realized that he had become an egregore. A quick google search brought me to this page.
