The alarm cleaves through my slumber
Eyes shoot open, bleary and unfocused
Collecting myself, I look around
Circumventing the blinds
Thin rays of morning light peek
Insinuating the day
Birds chime and cavort
Trees and vegetation whisper
As the wind tickles their leaves
Groaning, I recline again
Wrapping the blankets over my unfeeling body
I close my eyes, content
A sleepy haze melts my nerves
Rendering me motionless
I sink into its plush embrace
Sore limbs anchor me as
Remnants of dreams flow through my mind
Wild, exhilarating
Fireworks blaze beside me
I loop, dart, and dive
With reflecting silver wings
Finally I push the blankets off
The frigid air envelops me
I stand, unsteady
The icy floor singes my feet
With each step
As I walk towards the bars of light
Reaching the window
I throw the blinds aside
Morning pours into the dark room
Thin rays of morning light peek
Insinuating the day
Birds chime and cavort
Trees and vegetation whisper
As the wind tickles their leaves
Groaning, I recline again
Wrapping the blankets over my unfeeling body
I close my eyes, content
A sleepy haze melts my nerves
Rendering me motionless
I sink into its plush embrace
Sore limbs anchor me as
Remnants of dreams flow through my mind
Wild, exhilarating
Fireworks blaze beside me
I loop, dart, and dive
With reflecting silver wings
Finally I push the blankets off
The frigid air envelops me
I stand, unsteady
The icy floor singes my feet
With each step
As I walk towards the bars of light
Reaching the window
I throw the blinds aside
Morning pours into the dark room
