We’ve put together just a few ideas for anybody who wants a career with animals.
Veterinarian:
As a veterinarian, you will have had to commit to long years of college schooling, voluntary work to gain experience, and hefty tuition fees to finally land your dream job. But, if you’re prepared to commit to all of that, becoming a veterinarian is a wonderful career path for anybody who wants to spend their lives helping animals. Along with making a career out of your passion, training as a veterinarian will lead you to further opportunities such as promotions or opening your own surgery. Because of this, it can also be quite a financially lucrative career choice.
Veterinary Technician:
So, maybe you didn’t make the grades to get into vet school – but that’s OK, not everybody will. However, that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to find a great career in a very similar setting. Veterinary technicians work closely alongside veterinarians to conduct medical testing for the diagnosis and treatment of sick pets. Although you’ll be based mainly in the laboratory, your role will be crucial in helping sick and injured animals make a full recovery. Rescue Center Worker:
Working in an animal rescue center is a very important job; in many cases, you’ll be the first friendly face that a pet will see after being taken in from the streets or rescued from an abusive or neglectful home. Many pets will first come to an animal shelter terrified and shy, and it’ll be your job to help them finally trust again and win them over with plenty of love and kindness. Once they begin to recover, you’ll also be responsible for finding them new, loving homes where you know they will be safe and happy.
Zookeeper:
If you want to work with exotic animals, then becoming a zookeeper could be the perfect career path for you. In this role, you’ll be tasked with looking after the welfare of a range of zoo animals, ensuring that they are adequately fed and watered and have a clean environment to live in. To become a zookeeper, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in zoology, biology, or another life science. You can find programs which combine college education with hands-on experienced gained at a local zoo.
Pet Sitter:
If you want an entrepreneurial career working with animals, becoming a pet sitter could be an excellent way to achieve your dreams. As a pet sitter, you’ll need to provide a safe place and home-from-home care to other people’s precious pets when they’re out of town.
