Can Education Save the U.S. Healthcare System?
Nursing is traditionally a female profession. Nurses take care of the day-to-day healthcare whilst doctors take on the more glamorous roles. In truth, without an army of nurses – three million to be exact, according to an infographic from the University of Arizona – the U.S. healthcare system would be on its knees.
The face of modern healthcare has changed beyond all recognition. The American population is aging and one in three nurses is aged 50 and above. As the infographic reminds us, 20% of the U.S. population will be aged 65 or more by 2030, which means a healthcare crisis is imminent. If you need a new career, check out nursing and look at the benefits of pursuing an MSN online. With 55% of nurses intending on retiring in the next ten years, demand is huge!
