Are You Happy?
Everyone wants to be happy. But, we all have different things that make us happy. Some say they would be happy if they were rich, some say they just want to have power, and others say they would be happy just to have someone that truly loves them. Everybody is different, so we all have different wants and needs. Some people say they would be happy if they could be young again.
The Older, the Better
However, studies have shown that people over the age of 69 are happier than those who are 18. Another study found that people in the United States are happier when they are between 75 and 79 years old than they are at any other time in their lives. In fact, the unhappiest years were found to be between 40 and 44. Maybe that is what they mean by mid-life crisis. Maybe that is because it is during those years, our peak adulthood, which we experience the most stress. Between 25 and 55, we are dealing with work, relationships, children, and the daily issues of life. Those over 75 are usually retired and doing what they have been waiting their whole lives to do. Right? Hopefully.
What Makes You Happy?
So, what is it that truly makes you happy? Is it something you want or need (like money or love) or something you want to have less of (like stress and work)? Of course, everyone wants to have less stress and more love in their lives but does money make you happier and work make you more unhappy? Maybe we are doing it wrong. Life that is. If it is money that we want more of and work that we want less of, but we have to work to make money, shouldn’t we be doing work that we love to make our lives better? That would solve a lot of problems. If you enjoy working and you make money doing it, then you are going to be happier, right? Well, that is part of it anyway. So, how do you make money doing what you love?

What do you love to do? Be realistic, though. You probably cannot make money drinking beer or sleeping, but you never know. Seriously, I am a writer, and I love it. But, for the first 40 years of my life, I did other things to make money. Worked in retail, fast food, telemarketing, even sales. I was unhappy with all of those jobs, of course, because I was not doing what I loved. Writing. I found a way to make money with my writing, and now I do what I love, work for myself, and I am incredibly happy. You can do that too. Just figure out what it is that makes you truly happy that you are good at and figure out a way to make money doing it. There is always a way. Some people make money playing video games all day; some get paid to eat different kinds of food. You can find a way to make money doing what you love.
