A Review of Ceremony's Violence, ViolenceI saw Ceremony live in Richmond, VA back in 2006. It was one of the most heartfelt punk shows that I have ever experienced. The minute they got on stage, the crowd went wild. Raw, Angry, Aggressive dancing lit up the room and if you didn’t want to get punched in the face, well, you probably should have just left and went down the street to a bakery to eat a cupcake, alone without any of your violent friends.

But the Bible Says So— A Case for LGBTQI+ Inclusion in Our Faith.By Meredith Jade Garrett QuailBellMagazine.com *Editor's Note: First appeared on Meredith's blog The Reader Project . Look for Meredith's upcoming book Unseen, referenced in this piece. While writing Unseen, there were several occasions when I wanted to dive into theology and defend my beliefs, but I realized that would A) take away from the larger story and B) make me appear insecure in my faith. Nevertheless, like many people who are struggling with the idea of inclusion and hitting a brick wall at Biblical fundamentalism, I find it necessary to address the “clobber passages.” Sadly, these few verses in the Bible acquired this name because they are wrongly and hatefully cherry-picked and hurled at gay Christians without any regard to context. Though my heart’s desire is to dwell on any of the other verses in the Bible which promote Jesus’s love, mercy, and unconditional inclusion, there is a need to solve the intellectual quandary that many face. For some, a misunderstanding of these verses may be the only thing tethering their hearts to disapproval. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
The Kentucky Project: The Story and The ScienceThe Story of the Hopkinsville Confederate Dead
by Martin Pitts Hopkinsville, Kentucky is about an hour's drive northwest of Nashville. As I pulled the little Boxster off the four lane into the motel parking area, I noticed a Wal-Mart across the highway where I expected to find a shopping mall. Along the route below was a line of signs for minor franchises like Jersey Mike's or Waffle House or Pizza Hut. Beyond the road's end on a rise, tops of church steeples hallmarked the older streets and neighborhoods of small town America. Bill Meacham is waiting in the lobby and greets me warmly. The Grace of CompanionshipBy Raymond Greiner QuailBellMagazine.com Companionship defines life. Instinctive thought is of long-term, human partnerships, sharing each day approaching the bond as a single unit, yet interacting in dual servitude toward shared goals. Frequently such arrangements lack balance, but when in sync it’s the best of the best.

Complicated Feelings During the 4th? Same — And That’s Okay. Growing up in a proudly American small town, I was taught the value of exercising my right to vote and how precious it was that our elected officials were there to listen to our opinions. Today, I’m not at all convinced of the latter, or that our government stands for everyone’s independence. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
