Pa once told me that America was great because its founder, George Washington always told the truth. This George was praised by his father when he admitted to cutting down their family cherry tree.
These cherry blossoms, now bloom before my eyes. Round, fluffy. Big soft pink cotton candies. If only I could lean back and fall upon these pink clouds, to be drifted and carried away from all this anti-Asian hate crimes, all these COVID-19 lies and scapegoating against Asian Americans now. The truth in this country was as awfully mythical as the George Washington fable. As I take my baby for a stroll, I think about the other George. How dare the trial judge try to write the defense team's appeal. As George once gasped for his life, I now gasped with relief at the Chauvin verdict. Guilty, guilty, guilty. Sometimes, the truth does float above these slime of lies. These cherry blossoms are for George.
