Female Stories Front and Center in First Women’s Theatre Festival RICHMOND, Virginia — Mounting Richmond’s first-ever Women’s Theatre Festival has involved making a lot of decisions, both large and small: from crafting narrative arcs and landing a production’s memorable takeaway moments, down to the detailed choice of what color pants an actor will wear onstage.

Raging Currents and Still WaterBy Alex Carrigan It's always important to confront the past, no matter how ugly, how bitter, how torturous, and how unpleasant a task that is. It really isn't something that should be spelled out so often, but it's still something that people tend to avoid for various reasons, some justified and some not as much. It means opening yourself to reopen old wounds and allowing yourself to be vulnerable, and while that can be liberating, to others, it's something that's worse than just being numb from the past.

Psychedelic Pop Artist Takes on Nashville
Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Lexx is a pop artist who draws inspiration from the realities of day-to-day life while harnessing the mystical sounds of music to create a new breed of pop music. Though she has yet to release a full album, true magic can only happen with time, something Lexx knows well.
We spoke with Lexx about her creative rituals, her musical influences, what her latest track "Taking In" is all about, and what being an artist truly means. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.

“Yeah, it’s like Burning Man for writers,” I responded. I was exaggerating a bit. Unlike Burning Man, AWP doesn’t happen in a dry lakebed filled with sand fleas. The conference is held in a different city every year, within the semi-posh confines of convention centers and upscale chain hotels. The Breadcrumbs widget will appear here on the published site.
The Shrill TruthBy Ghia Vitale Shrill is a truthful representation of what many fat women (including myself) go through every day. I recommend this series not only to fat people, but also to thin people who want more insight into what fat women experience all the time. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
