Unusual Properties To Live InWhen you are searching for a new house, what is it you are looking for? Something traditional and study where you can live for many years, perhaps even raise a family? Something easy to maintain and comfortable to be in for you and guests? Or would you prefer something a little more unusual which, even if it is not entirely practical, is interesting and quirky and works well with your unique personality? If this sounds like you, then read on; we’ve put together a sample of some of the more unusual properties you can live in if you start to search them out. Converted Barn
A converted barn, or ‘barndominium’ as they have started to be called, can be an ideal home to enjoy. Due to their size, they won’t usually feel cramped, and if the roof is kept as it was when it was a barn, then it will be an impressive sight, raising many feet above the main living area. Some barns are created to look like standard properties on the inside, keeping the outside unusual, and some have tried to keep as many features of the barn itself as possible. It depends on the architect and owner as to what happens. If you do buy one of these exclusive properties, you’ll find plenty of barndominium ideas from Pinterest to give you inspiration on how to make it feel just like home. Houseboat If you love to be on the water but can’t afford the time or expense of cruising all the time, then a houseboat might be the best option for you. You’ll need to find a permanent mooring place, such as Portage Bay in Seattle, for example (and there are many, many more) and the maintenance on a houseboat is extremely important too; you don’t want to run the risk of sinking or being damaged in high winds and rains. Yet although there is a lot to take into consideration when you choose to live on a houseboat, there are many benefits too. It’s cheaper than buying a house, for example, and you will often find that you are moored within a fun community where people tend to look out for one another since they all have their love of the boats in common. Lighthouse Thanks to modern technology, lighthouses aren’t required as much as they once were to keep ships safe; radar and other monitoring devices now do that job. That means that lighthouses are being sold and turned into accommodation. Living in a lighthouse is not for everyone. By their very nature, there will always be many stairs to climb, and for those who aren’t fit or able-bodied, this can be a problem. It will depend on how the builder and designer transformed the property from a functioning lighthouse that was never meant to be permanent accommodation into something that a single person or even family could live in for many years – how many extra rooms have been added? What has happened to the lightroom at the very top? – but it could be a fun, quirky place to live if done right. CommentsComments are closed.
