5 Tips For Having Guests Stay OverEven if you’re a seasoned host or hostess, having guests stay over can be a tricky business. You’re suddenly surrendering your personal space to other people, and realizing that your usual habits and lifestyle choices might have to be altered to accommodate those staying with you. It can be hard to break out of habits and make your space fully functional for other people, but it doesn’t have to be a challenging task with these simple tips: 1. Try Pull Down Beds If your home has limited space or you don’t have enough rooms on your property to accommodate a guest room, why not try a pull-down bed? The designs of these beds, such as wall beds in Miami, mean they can neatly be stored away out of sight when they are not being used, and pull down when you need them – without compromising on space. Not only that, but when folded away, they won’t look like beds at all, meaning they can be incorporated into your existing design, such as a wall unit of shelves. 2. Make Space for Them This doesn’t just mean a guest room or a separate place for them to sleep. Depending on how long your guests are staying, you should make space for them in relevant rooms, such as in the bathroom so that they can easily store their toiletries, and also in the kitchen if they would like to cook or need room to store any food or drink they’ve brought with them. 3. Create a Welcoming Communal Area If you have a one-seater reclining armchair positioned in front of the TV, this doesn’t scream I like to have guests over. Think about seating arrangements and whether you need to grab a few extra chairs from somewhere, or invest in a bigger couch if you were planning on replacing yours anyway. Also consider how best to arrange the room so everybody can see the TV, for example, or can easily move around the space. 4. Check Their Requirements If you’re a coffee drinker who hasn’t seen a teabag in years, this may not go down well if your guests depend on their morning cups of tea. Nor will it be a pleasant visit if your home is only stocked with food items your guests choose not to eat, or else might be allergic to. Common courtesy goes a long way, and you should double-check with your guests over any preferences they might have, and make the effort to stock up in a different way than you usually would. 5. Think Clean and Tidy There’s nothing more welcoming than a fresh and clean space, especially when it comes to sharing your bathroom with guests and preparing a bed for them. Freshly washed and changed sheets are a must, as is a sparkling clean bathroom and kitchen. Not only that, but they’ll see the effort you have made for them and be grateful. You’ll also be able to rest easy knowing that everything is as clean as it should be. CommentsComments are closed.
